Origin: Central America - Occurs
in warm springs, weedy canals and ditches
Temperament: Peaceful. Excellent for community tanks or for people
new to the hobby.
Feeding: Feed with flakes or algae. Some salt in the water will do
the fish good. Very good beginner or new tank fish.
Temperature Range: 64-76°F.
pH: 6.9-8.2
dH range: 9.0 - 19.0
Adult Size: 2"
Sexing: Sex can be easily determined by
the male's modified anal fin
(gonopodium). Females grow larger and have a more rounded body.

Comments: Platys are easy and a great fish for beginners or new
aquariums. They come in many forms, including blue, sunset and wag (which means the
fins are black, with a different body color.
Easily cross-bred between species and color morphs and also crosses easily with
swordtail, creating the "wag-swordtail" aquarium strain of fish.
